UNICO COMFORT AND AESTHETICS TOP
THE LIST FOR GANLY’S NEW STORE
Retailer
Ganly’s of Athlone
is a high-profile showcase building which features a series
of separate showrooms. Its and its owners have chosen the
mini-duct central heating and cooling system from Unico
System to provide both heating and cooling for the store.
Retail warehouses are not known for environmental
comfort levels but Michael Ganly wanted this store to be
different. “I
wanted the best in performance and comfort available for
my new store. Looking after our customers is very important
to the way we do things,” he says.
Setting different
heating and cooling requirements for each showroom area – bathroom,
tiles, household, lighting, electrical and coffee shop – Ganly’s
wanted the utmost flexibility without a cost penalty. Consulting
Engineers, Curley Smith Design Partnership, were pleased
with the results. “We
had so many differentiated heating and cooling needs but
the Unico System has provided us with exactly the flexibility
needed as well as high levels of comfort and the responsiveness.”
One of the main requests by Ganly’s
was that there should be no draughts and with multi-zoned
Unico System, this has been achieved - an even temperature
throughout each zone with controlled humidity.
Another major
consideration was that of aesthetics. The solution ensures
that the store’s products are on show – not
radiators, ugly ductwork or wall heaters and boilers. The
Unico mini-duct system, along with the modular air handlers,
fits neatly into the ceiling voids so that the only visible
sign of the heating and air conditioning is a series of unobtrusive
small outlets in the ceiling.
The installation properties
were achieved by using modulating gas boilers, feeding
the Unico System modular air handlers and delivering high
efficiency. The system integrates perfectly with the store
design and fittings, and is virtually silent in operation
so that staff and customers are completely unaffected by
draughts, noise or visible signs.
“The Unico System
has delivered on promises with the best in performance and
efficiency,” says Michael Ganly, “The
comfort levels produced for our customers are beyond my expectations,
and there’s hardly a sign that the system is there
at all.”
